Last week we took a look at my favorite actresses in roles I admire and what perfumes I would give them.
Now it is your turn:
Who is your favorite movie or TV character?
What is his/her signature scent?
Do you own that perfume yourself?
What aspect of this character makes him or her so adorable/admirable/covetable for you?
My Answer:
To refresh your memories, here are my personally perfumed movie idols.
Good morning… I am about to finish studying for today and I saw your beautiful question (haven’t slept all night). It’s a lovely break from my work.
So, my favourite character is Amelie Poulain. She’s clever, optimistic, eccentric, romantic- and with a healthy dose of mischief. I can identify and partake in many qualities of hers. One perfume I would imagine would depict her personality is Cheap and Chic by Moschino, but the quirky Bois Farine is also possible (though, I wouldn’t think she would choose something niche). Finally, her dreamy nature makes me think of Lolita Lempica too.
What say you? Any suggestions on what perfume Amelie could wear?
I hope you can catch up on sleep today!
Amèlie is a great character, when I look at her I inevitably think “Jicky!”. I’m not sure why, but that is my first impulse and I’ll stick with it.
I don’t remember very well how Cheap and Chic smells, but the appearance is very fitting for Amèlie.
Too many to mention, really, but I enjoyed Elisabeth Moss’s performance as Peggy in Mad Men enough to go specially to watch her in (what turned out to be) a very dull play in the West End. A number of bloggers have gone before me scenting Peggy, but I picture her wearing something a bit spiky, a bit green, but also quite warm. If Antonia has been invented I might put her in that, or Niki St Phalle, or Blue Grass. Blue Grass is a bit mainstream, but the vintage version smells fitting, I would say.
How great! Peggy is such an interesting character, I think Antonia is great for her.
PS I like her because she is a deep thinker and a bit of an underdog, and I own Antonia and a really old bottle of Blue Grass from the 70s, but not Peggy’s era!
I know about your 1975 Blue Grass… 🙂
Here are my quick three:
Audrey Hepburn in Roman Holiday wearing FM ‘En Passant’ – young, ethereal and heartbreakingly beautiful, these two were made for each other. This is my favourite film and Audrey Hepburn’s first film; she is luminous in it.
Brendon Fraser in The Mummy (my guilty pleasure) wearing PdE ‘Cuir Ottoman’, because this is my daydream. I do wear Cuir Ottoman, but more as a treat to myself than out of the house.
Finally Deborah Kerr in general, she is my favourite actress of all time and a lesson in being both a true lady and a real woman, so I would chosen Caron’s ‘Parfum Sacre’, to reflect both. Hummm I wear Parfum Sacre a lot, I didn’t realise how aspirational I was being!
Have a good day, and I hope the sun is shining wherever you are – London is glorious today x
Excellent choices, Alexandra!
I had to smile about Brandon Fraser in Cuir Ottoman.
Allowing us to dream and be aspirational, that is what perfume is for, isn’t it? 😉
The lady herself speaking about her perfume and what perfume means to her: http://articles.deborahkerr.es/?p=533
So I know this isn’t possible or real but
Tom Cruise in MI3 in Lou Lou by Cacharel because I laugh when I think of it, and the smell would give him away when undercover.
Ha, it makes me laugh as well! Inspired choice! 😀
Keira Knightley as Elizabeth Bennet! I know that the BBC adaptation is far more accurate, however, I think that The Focus Features production perfectly captured the spirit of the book (it felt breathless, like I did when I read the book the first (few) times).
… And I would annoint her with: Jour Ensoleille! To me, it has the same golden, intelligent, and feminine cast as Lizzie.
Perfect! I love that choice for Elizabeth. 🙂
I’m picking Buddy from my favourite Christmas film, elf. I would scent him with By Kilian’s Love because it smells innocent and of candy 🙂
I have never seen that movie, clearly that was an oversight! I think I would rather like an elf smelling of Love! 😉
Hm, the favorite movie star… Should I take Michael Corleone (Al Pacino) in Godfather ? But I’m not that familiar with really really (and I mean really!) masculine parfumes. And I guess I’ll have to pass for the same reason on Rodrigo Mendoza in The Mission as well (by Robert de Niro) …
Let’s try for a Lady… like Virginia Woolf in The Hours (by Nicole Kidman), but then again she was soo sensitive and nervous, with frequent headaches, she rather shouldn’t wear any scent…
I have it, Galadriel in The Lord of the Rings (Kate Blanchett – I’d loveto take her as Queen Elizabeth I., but couldn’t think of a matching scent…) – she’d wear just a tiny drop of Fille en Aiguilles (Lutens), but La Femme Bleue (Armani Prive) would suit her as well.
I think Michael Corleone would be great in HdP 1740 Marquis de Sade.
I love your favorites. And you are so right, Virginia Woolf couldn’t stand perfume on her person…
