A Requiem For Three Birds – Happy Thanksgiving!

A very happy Thanksgiving to all my American friends and readers! Have a wonderful and relaxing Holiday!

We are celebrating too (because we are Americanophiles to the max), but only on Sunday. My husband is going to cook Turducken (for the uninitiated, that is a chicken stuffed into a duck stuffed into a turkey, no kidding!).

Check in tomorrow for a delicious guest post by a very interesting man!

I’ll be back on Monday, probably about four pounds heavier!

xoxo, B

Turducken is a very popular word this year in my surroundings: everybody’s talking about it and I even know somebody who’s going to cook it (well, is already doing it since de-boning is done the day before). I even hope to get to try it – if anything’s left by Friday.

Have a good rest of the week and a wonderful Sunday, Birgit!

Oh, enjoy your Turducken, Undina! I’m a bit terrified that the preparation of this dish is a bit over our heads, but my husband has no such doubts. 😉
      Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Best of luck to The Husband with the Turducken. Have a great day, B. Looking forward to tomorrow’s guest post.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone celebrating across the pond!

Turducken fascinates me but I don’t think I’d ever try to cook one. Good luck with yours! I hope you have a lot of people to feed because that’s a lot of poultry to cook. Happy Thanksgiving!

Turducken is such a manly thing, isn’t it? I don’t know who invented it, but it always strikes me as the kind of culinary invention that only a man could dream up! It’s probably delicious as all get-out, but I’d never attempt one, so my hat is off to your husband, Birgit. I love that he is cooking his turducken with such confidence! Enjoy, and Happy Thanksgiving!

Enjoy your Thanksgiving Sunday, Birgit! You are very brave, preparing turducken. I’ve read about it but haven’t tried it. Be sure and let us know how it turns out 🙂

Oh boy Turducken! Not even the ancient Romans stuffed a bird so decadently. YUMMY for the tummy. Olfactoria, like I have been writing all over the blogs this morning… I am so thankful for all the wonderful people I have met through my passion for perfume…and YOU are on of the special people I give thanks for.
    Hugs…
    Lanier
P.S. Three birds…that means three wishbones! Save them all for me.

Hugs back, dear Lanier! I’m grateful having gotten to know you as well.
Reading about your “Old Hollywood” memories on your blog, is an absolute joy!
      Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

I have actually had bacoturducken before – the whole thing wrapped in bacon. Honestly though I may have eaten a minuscule slice and then had tofurkey… the whole thing seemed so decadent and over the top to me. I couldn’t do it!

  12. Vanessa's avatar Vanessa says:

Like the Turducken, I would venture to suggest that you are an Americanophile to the max stuffed inside an honorary Brit wedged inside an elegant Austrian. And that is a compliment by the way. Though I fear the hybrid B may be four pounds bonnier than the single nationality! ; – )

    • Olfactoria's avatar Olfactoria says:

I LOVE this comment! You are hilarious!
Thank you, dear V, I do take this as a compliment indeed.
      I guess the 3-in-1 B can support another 4 pounds of bonnie-ness. 😉

  13. Oh my gosh!!!!!! A turducken!!!!! My relatives did this a few years ago. It was actually very delicious!

Have you ever heard of the Epic Food Guys? They did FIVE BIRDS (a bird in a bird in a bird in a bird in a bird) IN A PIG!!!!!!

Held together with Bacon and Meat Glue.

It is both disgusting and awe-inspiring 🙂

Can’t wait to hear how it turns out!
