“La Route du Café is an exclusive collection of scented candles which reveals the very essence of coffee, from its birth to its maturity. The range of delicate fragrances created for Nespresso by perfumer Olivia Giacobetti will fill your senses with the earth of Arabica, the wood and the flower of the coffee tree, the warmth of sun-dried beans, and the flambéed coffee of New Orleans.” (source Nespresso.com)
I love the scent of freshly ground coffee. Unfortunately I cannot drink it. At all. I get palpitations as soon as I look at a cup. So when I chanced upon these candles created by one of my favorite noses Olivia Giacobetti, I was delighted. Giacobettis signature style is diaphanous, airy and deceptively simple (in the best sense of the word), that is why I adore most of her creations.
These seem to be just what the doctor ordered.
There are five flavors available:
Terre d’Arabica – Reflecting the heat of Ethiopia, the redolent earth of Arabica, a fresh yet powerful coffee growing soil.
Bois de Maragogype – A Nicaraguan Maragogype variety. The light wood of the coffee tree, malted and lightly roasted gives a delicate cereal fragrance.
Fleur de Moka – Evokes images of Yemen, at daybreak, where a field of coffee trees are in bloom, filling the air with the scent of white flowers and a hint of lemon and cocoa.
Grain Emeraude – Drawn from the fertile highlands of Kenya, the perfume captures the warmth and richness of unroasted coffee beans dried in the sun.
Café Flambé – The famous coffee of New Orleans, with its heady scent of spices, flambéed with rum.
Doesn´t that sound good?
The Candles are available from nespresso.com and in Nespresso Boutiques worldwide.

Holy cows, I need these! They sound stunning, and I think the hubby would really like them too— **prancing off to Nespresso**
I love it, when someone else gets “infected” with wanting what I want. I know that is not my best trait.
Like you, I can’t drink coffee but adore the smell and these candles sound fabulous. I also love Giacobetti’s Idole de Lubin so Café Flambé would be the one I’d go for, what with the rum and spices. Yum!
That one does sound really yummy! You reminded me to hunt for Idole in my sample box again.
palpitations, palpitations??? that’s the reason I drink coffee, have to buy these candles…..
Haha! I´m not entirely sure, but I don´t think the candles cause palpitations, I´m sorry. 😉
maybe in combination with a strong espresso:-))
Probably! 😉
I want them all. I don’t see them sold in the US, or else my googling skills have abandoned me.
Oh, really? I am sorry, I thought they were sold worldwide, that is also what the SA at the boutique said, but you never know how informed they are…will check again. 😦
Hmm…I love coffee. But, I have never found the scent very appealing. My father-in-law is an independent coffee roaster and I hate visiting them because it sticks so bad there. Nothing smells worse than green beans being roasted!
But, I do love coffee in certain perfumes when used as a base.
I find Cafe Flambe the most interesting. I have family in New Orleans and the most pleasing scent there is Cafe du Monde! Mmmm….chicory.
Café Flambé is the best scent of the five in my opinion. Strangely, I do not like the scent of coffee in perfumes (didn´t smell it often yet, though, only Aomassai comes to mind, and I didn´t care much for that.)
OK, the only coffee I like is DSH Perfumes Cafe Noir, but I tend to like everything she does!
The other one I like is Angel for Men, but I don’t wear. It smells very nice on a friend of mine. But, really on him, I just get like a mocha, lots of chocolate.
I have a sample of Cafe Noir that I have not tried yet, Should get to it 😉
