Only a block from our house is the University of Astronomy and it’s old observatory. The surrounding park has been closed to the public until recently.
Today we went exploring and found an incredibly beautiful secret garden, wild and untamed right in the middle of this residential neighborhood.
That warranted a new beauty post for sure.
We will now often visit this park, free of people and seemingly untouched by time, an oasis right around the corner in the middle of the city.
Oh, and yes, it smells great there too… wet leaves, moss, old stone walls, pine trees and yours truly wafting a delicate trail of Atelier Cologne Oolang Infini.
Beautiful, I have to admit, I’ve never been there although living in the n’hood for more than 40yrs,….have to go there, but even more important , is it dogfriendly there:-)
Nope, dogs are strictly forbidden (which I actually don’t find so bad at the moment, I don’t like most dogs after all. 😉 )
It is still worth a visit!
I love the untamed, unmanicured feel of the garden. I hope you and your boys have fun exploring. I see someone is a budding photographer! It looks a bit chilly in Vienna right now. I wish we would see some cooler weather. Although, I’m afraid if I wish too hard, I may just what I wish for and end up with a really cold winter.
It is chilly, but I love it. Fall is the best time of the year for me.
Pauli loves to take pictures and he is not bad at all… 🙂
Pauli is a very talented photographer, i see a big career there in the future…..
Thank you! For now he wants to be a doctor/mountainclimber. 😉
What a wonderful find. Did you just come across it by chance? I hope it stays your secret for a while longer. I love how untouched it is.
That photo is gorgeous. Pauli did a great job.
Well, I knew it was there, but it was closed to the public, they recently opened it but I doubt many people know yet, I hope it stays like that. (But I guess we’ll meet Sandra, Lady Jane and Georgy there soon!) 😉
Must go to the gardens this fall! Thanks for the tip. Pauli did a wonderful job!
Thank you, he is very proud! 🙂
Pretty much the definition of “enchanted garden”…
Definitely.
What a treasure! Looks like a great hunting ground for exploration.
Yes it is, a great find!
Your secret garden truly does merit a post. It’s lovely, Birgit, as are you. Kudos to Pauli on that photo. 🙂
Thank you, dear Suz! 🙂
I just went to the bathroom to smell at the bottle of Oolang Infini. I share the house with an old friend of mine and this was my birthday present for him. Vienna is really very beautiful. I was born there and lived in the Karl-Schweighofer-Gasse 6 until I was 5 years old. Alles Liebe from Hamburg!
Glad I reminded you of your native city a little bit. Many greetings back to Hamburg!
Do you like Oolang Infini?
What a great spot for a ramble in the middle of the city. Given the nature of the locale, you could do with going back now and seeing if you can spot a Nuit Etoilee…;-)
Going back at night, I meant to say!
Got it. 🙂
Ha! 🙂
I’m glad to live in such a nice part of Vienna.
How wonderful to find a place like that to enjoy quiet and nature. I love the pictures.
Thank you, Jim! 🙂
Oh what a gorgeous secret garden, B- so wonderfully ‘foresty’!
It is! A park-like garden that’s grown wild, so lovely!
What a stunning place!
It is, Missionista! Thanks.
