Monday Question – What Are The Top Three Perfumes On Your Wishlist Right Now?

What is on your wishlist?

Money and availabilitiy nothwithstanding, which perfumes would you want the most?

Do you always buy the first thing on your wishlist next or do some scents skip the line?

How many items are on your list right this moment?

question-mark

My Answer:

My Top Three on the list are:

Opardu by Puredistance, L’Eau d’Hiver by Frederic Malle and Hermès Brin de Réglisse (on which I did a 180 a few months back, from hate to true love, so I’ll have to change my lament into a love song asap).

Unfortunately I tend to skip like crazy, some old faithfuls have been on my list for ages, being overtaken again and again by newcomers who bewitch my senses. I feel bad about that, but you know how it is with love at first sniff…

My list is not that long right now, and I do not intend to buy everything on it, but I like to keep a list where it is possible to dream, and not take budgetary or availability issues into consideration. So this dream list currently contains 8 perfumes.

What about you? Top Three? Total number? Can’t wait to hear about your lists!

  1. Lynley says:

My wishlist never seems to dwindle. There are some that have been there forever and I just haven’t gotten around to, like OJ Woman, Lonestar Memories, some Hermessences, Bois des Iles. These get shoved aside as they aren’t easily accessible here, and shipping can be frightful.
The current, easy access top 3 are:
-Mito Voile d’extrait. (actually not accessible or cheap at all! But top of the list)
-Cartier Baiser Vole essence de parfum
    – maybe Tom Ford Velvet Orchid. But I need to spend a bit more time.

Also there but put aside until warmer weather is Jardin du Poete by Eau d’Italie, or L’ombre dans l’eau. Opardu is pending due to $.
But the truth is most get put aside because I find really good prices on the like/really like but don’t love or discontinued ones and spend my budget on these :-/

  2. Marjo says:

Good morning! I’m afraid my wishlist is endless. Bad news for my bank account:). But from the top of my head: Coven, by Andrea Maack, Musc, by Bruno Acampora and Mon Parfum Cristal by M. Micallef. Have a nice Monday!

  3. Lady Jane Grey says:

There is no real LJG wishlist right now because at the moment I’m having a “pressure” problem – it’s the pressure of a far too large collection of parfumes, which I cannot rotate properly, so I’m trying not to succumbe to any desire (parfum-wise…). But I migt buy a Jicky edt, by accident.

  4. Jane P says:

Well, I’ve just bought Opardu having done my own 180 on that one and now adore it. I need to get Carnal Flower having emptied three travel tubes over the past couple of years. Chypre Palatin is next as I’ve done the same with two of their travel sized bottles. And then either Brezza di Mare, Confetto or Ambra Aurea, I think. Although, of course, top ten constantly reorder themselves.

  5. Sandra says:

Having just acquired three I have no right to have any perfumes on my wish list. Reality is I have a few still on the list. I would love to buy Amouage Fate Woman, Acampora Musc and Vero’s Rubj Voiles d’Extrait. Don’t even get me started on the backups I want/need. 🙂

  6. Ines says:

I can do a wishlist but I’m not buying anything on it. 🙂
Off the top of my head, Nuit Andalouse, Iris Nazarena and Vetiver SPice.

  7. Etomidac says:

I am still struggling with my bottle of Brin de Reglisse (I cannot bring my self to even like it..)! I need to 180 someday…
My wish list priorities changes somewhat depending on the season, unexpected encounters (fragrance of course 😉 ), new releases, but most stay the same.
My top 3 cravings right now are: Amouage Fate Women, Mon Precieux Nectar, Lipstick Rose. In the case of fantasy, well, my choice would be Guerlain’s Le Parfum du 68 Extrait Turtle bottle from last year. Total drool.
Some fragrances just seem to always stay in the list but never truly considered or just skipped. I don’t know why that is. E.g. Hedonist, Kiki Extrait by Vero Profumo, Spiritueuse Double Vanille, Chocolate Greedy etc. (My list is just too long and it keeps growing….)

    • Olfactoria says:

Beautiful things in this list of yours…
Why do you have a bottle of Brin de Reglisse? Was it a gift?

      • Etomidac says:

It was my own purchase actually…
It was a total spur of the moment, impulsive purchase. I have a deep love for purple and all things lavender. (Currently wearing Chanel Jersey Extrait. So beautiful, my heart melts 🙂 )
I remember it was a beautiful late afternoon and I was with a friend that day. Upon trying, I wasn’t convinced that I liked it but my friend complemented so much that I sort of made myself believe otherwise. When I wore it the next day in all excitement, the truth slapped me right across the face 😦

  8. annemariec says:

Robert Piguet ‘ s Baghari. That’s what I want. WANT, I tell you! Happilg, I do have a nice 8 ml decant to be going on with.

Other wants are a long way behind. Another 15 mls of Osmanthe Yunnan. A new bottle of Calyx. But they can wait until summer.

  9. Tara says:

I’m glad it’s a Wish List and not a To Buy List because I like to dream too. My top three wishes are:-

    Rozy Voile d’Extrait, Vero Profumo
    Cuir Cannage, Dior
    Opardu, Puredistance

I think it’s OK to skip, we all do it and it’s great to get swept away by something.

In the real world the next perfume to join my collection will be a £25 bottle of Jacomo Silences 🙂

  10. Asali says:

Whoohoo, finally I list I can do with out feeling guilt 🙂 but first up, I never stick to my wish list, sometimes it’s an offer, sometimes opportunity, sometimes just because. Here it goes; Moulin Rouge, I really need that bottle soon, nuit andalouse, newfound love, opardu and if money were absolutely no issue Irisss would probably be on the list too.

  11. Bee says:

My list changes in continuation, for the moment I have 2 Heeleys shortlisted (Iris de nuit and l’Amandière) , Puredistance scents are alway on my longlist (but the prices scare me a bit), however there are some new scents I want to try before making my next choice (I am a bit disappointed by L’eau de magnolia)

  12. poodle says:

I’m trying not to buy anything for a while so I don’t even want to think of my wish list. I find I have things on my list that I never seem to get around to buying. Often I buy things that aren’t even on it because I find a good deal somewhere. I think right now Spiritueuse Double Vanille is at the top of the list. I guess the next two in line would be Sova and Trayee.

  13. Sabine says:

My wishlist is long, my Tobuy list is short. There are things on the former which stay there forever and never make it, Chypre Palatin and Hasu nu Hana, for example. My current to buy list is actually pretty simple and doable. Felanilla, The Soft Lawn and another 5x5ml Jovoy sample box. And if money wasn’t an issue I’d put Gris Montaigne and Absolue pour le Soir on there as well. Which will make it more of a wish list…..

    • annemariec says:

I’d never heard of Felanilla and was so intrigued by the name I looked it up, and have just been reading the Luckyscent reviews. I can’t remember the last time I saw reviews so sharply divided!

    • Olfactoria says:

      Lovely list, Sabine!
The Soft Lawn sounds soooo very inviting.

  14. Anka says:

How wonderful, I love Bring de Réglisse and am curious to read how you converted! I recently mutated into a jasmine liker and am very excited about it.

My wishlist is actually identical to my to buy list:
vero profumo’s Mito and Diptyque’s Eau Duelle; I’ve already asked this on Bonkers about Perfume: Does anybody know both, the edp and the edt, and could give me a recommendation? Until now, I only know and love the edp.
Hmmm, but thinking of jasmine now, I could add Dior’s “Grand Bal” to the list…as a wish, only a wish – feels good!

    • Olfactoria says:

Great list and good that dream and reality lie close together for you.
I’m sorry, I only know one version of Eau Duelle (the EdT) so I can’t compare… maybe someone else can help?!

  15. Alexandra says:

Oh good question, my current wish list (with my birthday in August firmly in mind) is only three perfumes long (handily) and they are:
    Andy Tauer, Incense Rose
    Ormonde Jayne, Tolu
    Tom Ford, Tuscan Leather
But having finally tried FM’s Portrait of a Lady at the weekend it may be creeping towards my wish list too…

  16. Figuier says:

My current wishlist is quite a bit longer than 3 perfumes, but near the top are

    28 La Pausa
a true jasmine (Love & Tears and Acqua di Parma Gelsomino Nobile are the closest I’ve found)
A Hermes Eau (can’t make up my mind between Gentiane, Narcisse and Pamplemousse)

By Kilian’s Rose Oud has been on the list too, for about 4 years now, but I never quite feel able to justify the expence, or rather, the money always goes on something else. Sous le Vent is in that category also. And I could easily have an all-Chanel top 3 wishlist in the shape of Beige, 28, and Cristalle edp.

    • Olfactoria says:

      Beautiful list!
As for the Eaux, if I may give you my advice: go for Narcisse, it is the most unusual of the three, while more wearable than Gentiane.

      • Figuier says:

Thanks for the advice Birgit – coming from a Hermes lover and expert I really value it 🙂 Yes, Narcisse as the happy medium between wearability and innovation does sound like it should be the best match. I need to skin-test it a few more times but I’d love to be able to get it this summer, so willl have to get a move on…

    • shylotus says:

      Hi Figuier,
Have you tried Nasomatto’s Nuda? It’s the closest I’ve found to a true jasmine. I believe it’s been discontinued, but you may still be able to find bottles around.

      • Figuier says:

        Hi shylotus,
thanks so much for this! As it turns out, I already have a FB of Nuda, and while I adore it, for me it’s more like jasmine absolute and less like the waft of flowers as you walk by them at night. In the drydown certainly Nuda gets closer to the flower, but the variety you get in Europe is quite a clean non-heady jasmine, and I’d like some of that too (really I’m just greedy!)

  17. nemo says:

My current wishlist includes Chergui (which I hesitated to buy all winter, and now I don’t need it for a while), L’Air du Desert Marocain, and Rose Poivree (which would really be the most expensive full bottle I have purchased ever). Luckily I have decants of the last two, and really Chergui isn’t THAT expensive compared to the others, right? 🙂 I am sure by the time cold weather rolls around again, it will seem like a huge bargain!

  18. Vanessa says:

My To Buy list is mercifully short and consists of PHI Rose de Kandahar – on a splitting basis with a friend in Bavaria, in mitigation. My Wish List is being massively squeezed by the ‘collection pressure’ of which LJG speaks, but a back up bottle of Zelda is probably there, and maybe one of Mito Voile d’Extrait (though it may be a bit too similar) and Ambra di Luna, once I have reconfirmed its lemming rating.

  19. Alice says:

As I’m on a buying embargo, I can make as many hypothetical lists as I want (actually quite liberating): at the moment a top 3 could be Eau de magnolia (it’s so cheerful), iris poudre (to replace an almost finished miniature) and le labo Lys 41.

  20. riga3210 says:

I would like to have those 3 perfums, that surprised me the most:
    1. Van Cleef&Arpels – Midnight in Paris
    2. L’artisan parfumeur – Dzing!
    3. Humiecky&Graef – Multiple Rouge
(but first i should test also Askew, Bosque and Clemency)

After I will start to dream about The wagabond prince – Land of warriors
(no idea what it smells like, but I love the concept!)

  21. spe says:

Amouage Ubar, Jubilation 25 (not sure about edp or parfum), a sample of MPG Cuir Fetiche, and waiting to try the new Malle. Killian’s love and tears and the citrus iris one have been on the list for years. I’m waiting on those for some reason.

  22. Marie says:

I have thought about it for a while now and the only fragrance that comes to my mind is L’Eau d’Hiver. 🙂
There are several other scents that I like a lot or must test further but none of them is on my wish or to buy list (yet).

  23. Cybele says:

Love to see Brin de Reglisse on your list- its so good! On my list Rose Barbare, Clair de Musc and 28, La Pausa

  24. shylotus says:

On my list is Guerlain’s Mayotte, Malle’s Lipstick Rose and Noir Epice, and MDCI’s La Belle Helene (swoon..) Oh, and someday – some way – Neela Vermiere’s Mohur extrait!

    Great lists, everyone!

  25. Vanny says:

The only one that is definitely on my wish/to buy list is Atelier Cologne Grand Neroli. I try to make it a point to never buy a FB without having tried it AND finished the whole sample (except if there is an amazing deal or special occasion before the latter happens…), so although I would be tempted to put some other fragrances on there (Diptyque Philosykos and Tam Dao, Goutal’s Nuit Étoilée, etc.), they haven’t qualified yet. Got to manage that student’s budget, y’know!
My samples wish list, however, is endless!

  26. ladywinther says:

    Shortlist, haha! Almost impossible, but I think this is it at the moment;
    Dior Leather Oud
    Frederic Malle Eau de Magnolia
Jul et Mad Amour de Palazzo
    The MDCI coffret
….and, if it wasn’t so damned pricey, Mona di Orio’s Oud. I try hard not to love it, but it’s just not working.

  27. Johanob says:

    1.Flor Y Canto
    2.Vero Profumo Rozy
    3.Ann Gerard Rose Cut
Why only 3….WHY??Lol…I’m in the fortunate position to have a perfume mule visiting the UK in a week or so…Nr 1 is sorted…lol! So I CAN add Nr 4: Viktoria Minya’s Hedonist. It’s fantastic to dream up lists…;-))

  28. Suzy Q says:

Bois des Isles. I’ll buy this in the fall.
Nuit de Tuberuese. My 100 ml bottle is getting low.
I’m excited about trying Rose Cut and a few other things but, in truth, I’m pretty satisfied with my collection now. It feels good to be able to say that.

  29. anatu13 says:

    For full bottles:
    1. Vero Profumo Mito EDP
    2. Tauer Incense Rose
    3. Tauer Carillon Pour un Ange — or SL A la Nuit
(The next are SL La Fille de Berlin, JM Blackberry & Bay, and Lubin Idole EDT–discontinued)

I am eagerly awaiting a decant of VP Rozy, and next on my list to sample are the new FM magnolia, the rest of Tauer’s rose-based perfumes, and a number from Parfums de Nicolaï.

There are 15 FBs on my wishlist. Happily, I have decants of most of them. I’ve skipped around on my list a few times when I found particularly good bargains for perfumes I would wear often.

  30. LeSputnik says:

mmmmm Vaniglia de madagascar by SS Farmazia Anunziata
    Tihota Indult
    Habit Rouge extrait,
but for practical reasons and because it is always nice to have more than three including some affordable ones, the next possible/probable try outs would be
    Cedar and Vanilla by Khiels,
Musc in oil form by the same
Habanita and their vanilla eau de toilette by Molinard,
and the next three for possible purchases after trying or already wearing would be
    Ambre Doré by Profumo,
    Eau d’orange verte by Hermès
and well more shalimar in any form!
and that is just the beginning of the list!

  31. dgambas says:

Ashoka, Noontide Petals, Onda(Voile d’Extrait or Extrait), Bois des Iles Extrait de Parfum, Indigo Vanilla. I know I’m going to realize the last one very soon. I just adore sugared violet in it.

  32. Laurels says:

On what might be called a Wishful Thinking List: Neela Vermiere Bombay Bling, Amouage Lyric Woman, Etro Shaal Nur, Jo Malone Blackberry & Bay.

On my actual To Buy List: Etro Shaal Nur, B de Boucheron, Bvlgari Au The Rouge.

Obviously, I should be saving up for a bottle of Shaal Nur, instead of spending my budget on samples every month.

  33. My wishlist is so long! Things keep getting added more quickly than things get taken off. I am guilty of skipping too. Sometimes I just smell something and that’s it, it moves right to the top of the list. Case in point, the new Cologne from ELdO. I sniffed. I walked out with a sample. I walked right back into the store a few days later. It’s so good!

I am trying to save my money for the fall though. The top three as of right now:

    MiN New York Dahab
    Prada No.8 Opoponax
    FM Dans tes bras
