Monday Question – What Is Your Fragrant Spring Fling This Year?

What new or new to you perfume has captured your attention for spring?

What kind of perfume do you crave once the sun comes out?

What is this season’s spring fling?

question-mark

My Answer:

Mine is Hermès Eau de Narcisse Bleu as you heard last week, but I also find Jo Loves N°42 The Flower Shop (take a look here) an ideal spring addition (thank you Lady Jane Grey!). A lovely scent evoking the fresh smells of a flower shop (yes, the name is a dead giveaway), fresh, green, watery, delicate – all the things Jo Malone knows how to do well.

What do you like to smell in springtime?

Diorissimo and Iris Nobile – these are my fragrant spring plans! HAGD

  2. isabeau1977 says:

My latest discovery is grandiflora magnolia Sandrine, with this sunny weather it smell just great!
Also like elle l’aime by Lolita it smells coconutty 😉 for the evening I love Bajda Mekkali Tendre est la Nuit.

  3. Sabine says:

I am pondering a FB purchase of Gothic Bluebells by Union. I fell in love with it at first sniff and have now tried it on a few times and want it badly.

  4. Ines says:

Each year when spring arrives I am on the lookout for green stuff. 🙂 Anything reminiscent of the first flowers in dewy grass and the bite of cold in the spring air.
Usually, I have no luck so I just go with either flowers or some spicy gourmands that are not too cloying.
Any ideas where to look this year? 😉

    • Olfactoria says:

Maybe you could look in the direction of Chanel? Bel Respiro is such a lovely green scent. Untitled L’Eau by Martin Margiela is like a breath of fresh air and I like Nicolai Weekend too.

  5. Ines says:

Yes, Bel Respiro is a good choice. Weekend as well although Odalisque is closer to my heart.
I try and find a new one each spring so I’ll look into the Margiela suggestion. 🙂 Thank you!

  6. Futur by Piguet. I know it’s autumn here but it feels like spring and Futur is this weird unplaceable, ungreen floral green that shoots sparks of galbanum and aldehydes through breathy white flowers and some slight warmth, maybe musk? I can’t pin it down and am enjoying the absolute unknowing.
    Portia xx

For now, difficult not to wear my last pearl: Dries Van Noten by Editions de Parfums Frédéric Malle, I’m in love but I’d like just more sillage. Well, I keep on wearing my orientals for spring and summer except Ambre Russe, but I can, finally, wear my beloved Tardes by Carner Barcelona. Enjoy the sun!!! xxx

  8. arline says:

    Chanel 19!!!!!

I want to buy some from the online Chanel site, but for some reason, I have been unable to do so. I don;t know whether the site is having issues. Today I will be calling customer service.

I made a mistake, and ordered a bottle off of ebay, and it was NOTHING like 19, it smelled cheap and watery. The seller assured me that it was authentic, but I find that hard to fathom. I did have luck finding a mini bottle of parfum, but I don’t know whether it was vintage, it did not specify. So I want to buy the extrait version from the site, if I can ever make the transaction, because I am truly obsessed, and the way I incorporate fragrance in my life, I won’t be satisfied, unless I can easily purchase more, when I run out.

    • Olfactoria says:

I hope you get your order in, arline. I understand your wish to have the contemporary version that you can replenish anytime. I don’t think it is bad at all btw!

      • arline says:

I was able to order the extrait, by calling customer service. Fingers crossed that it smells like what I am anticipating. I was shocked at how little the person that I was speaking with knew about it. Maybe perfume is not his thing, but i think it is important to know what you are selling, even if it is via the phone.

I will lit you know how it goes. 🙂

  9. Annina says:

I want to try the Hermes very much! It sounds like something I’d really like.

I’m hoping to own a bottle of En Passant this spring!

  10. Alice says:

Weekend by Patricia de Nicolai! Or at least, when it’s a sunny warm day – for more typical chilly grey days I am sticking to cozy floral orientals.
Congratulations on the Narcisse Bleu, I sniffed this and it was lovely. But sad about Juste une Reve, is it really leaving your collection?
    best wishes
    Alice

  11. Vanessa says:

Nothing new has crossed my path in the spring style so far, though am open to recommendations. For example, I have yet to try any Jo Loves, so must seek out her shop. Today – in this unseasonably warm weather we are having over here – I have drained the last of a decant of Saffron James Ume, which has ginger, waterlily, yuzu and gardenia in it. So I am breaking out the fresh florals you could say. 😉

  12. My collection has only a few green or springtime fragrances. The one that I do have and have worn this time of year since 1997 is YSL’s In Love Again. That one makes me think of Florida and wish that I were there in the groves, picking my own fruit. I am intrigued by the other fragrances mentioned – especially Futur. Thanks for the post.

  13. Figuier says:

Like Anita my collection is weak on springtime fragrances; the main contenders are the wonderfully odd (and on me incredibly longlasting) Chanel No 18, with its tender green apple-rose accord; the green hyacinth of Chanel Cristalle in edt.; and Sycomore..so basically my spring fragrance wardrobe is a one-house affair! Though if I had any Un Jardin sur le Nil I’d probably add that to the list.

Of course, today being typical UK March weather, cold and blustery, I’m ignoring all of these and ‘borrowing’ DH’s Volutes 🙂

  14. Alexandra says:

Sigh – spring just doesn’t suit my perfume collection. I tried to do springlike yesterday in our first properly sunny day here in the UK and wear AA Flora Nymphae, huge mistake – I should have just stuck to my cozy orientals….

  15. fruwinther says:

PG Drama Nuui, FM Carnal Flower, Ormonde Jayne Frangipani Absolue, and my latest hangup and newest bottle- Vero Profumo Mito voile d’extrait, It’s stunning. And happy Monday to all!

  16. Lady Jane Grey says:

I’m so happy you like The Flower Shop !!!!!!
I’m all for greens now – The Flower Shop, Bel Respiro, and playing around with Comme des Garcons (Playing Green, Amazingreen, etc.)

  17. Bee says:

Le temps d’une fête, I pulled the bottle out today and I think I’ll be wearing it in the next days too. Another spring staple is kelly calèche, so I see some competition coming up!

  18. Sylvia says:

I hope winter is dissappearing in your part of the country. It is a gorgeous 70 here today!
I am still loving my Ambre eau de Mervilles on coldish days…So cozy and light and comforting…
For Thinking ahead hoping for Spring I fell in love with Estée private collection Tuberose and Gardenia and bought a bottle. Springtime in a glass bottle, to cheer you up on a coldest day:)!! A little something the first 15 minutes, but beeeaautiful stuff after that. I’ve even come to love that first 15 minute strange something…It Just yells winters really going to be over!
I ran by the mall to check out new smells- why else would you go to the mall!?! .. and smelled this years edition of Bronze Goddess … Surprisingly nice on skin. I’m test driving it on skin this afternoon .. We’ll see…

    • Olfactoria says:

TG is a really beautiful perfume, I should take it out again, thanks for reminding me.
Is the new Bronze Goddess different to older editions do you think?

      • Sylvia says:

I smelled the edition from two years ago. That one didn’t impress me. This one smells ‘lush’ to me – .:) I’m pretty new at this and can’t pick out many notes. It reminded me a little of coconut and a light version of Kai. Not exact, mind ,but reminded me. I like it so far..oh and I tried the new body cream they have this year,in it too. That feels pretty fab and smells a bit lighter. The price is good at $62 and $42!

  19. nemo says:

It is not feeling quite like spring yet, so I will have to use my imagination to answer this question! Part of me will want to reach for Cristalle EDP. I am also very much enjoying Rose Poivree these days as a seasonal transition sort of scent.

  20. Laurels says:

Still looking. adding Futur and Elle l’Aime to my list. I’ve never cared for the smell of coconut, but lately I’ve been baking with coconut oil, and have been thinking that the smell would be great in a perfume.

  21. I love the smell of lilacs (Yves Rocher Lilas Mauve) and lily of the valley (Tauer Perfumes Carillon pour un Ange).

  22. malsnano86 says:

Late to the party, as usual… spring’s my favorite perfume season and I have tons to choose from. All my green florals: No. 19, Le Temps d’une Fete, Chamade, Crown Perfumery Crown Bouquet, Silences… violets and lilacs, too (Penhaligon’s Violetta and DSH White Lilac).

  23. I’m draining with record speed Nobile 1942’s La Danza della Libellule. Smells like Red Delicious apples rolled in vanilla-dusted fur!
