I want to wish all my US readers a very happy Thanksgiving!
We celebrated our own version at home last week with my husbands already legendary Turducken. It was delicious!
Tonight we are lucky to be invited to a Thanksgiving Dinner with the newly appointed US Ambassador to Austria, Ms Alexa Wesner. I look forward to meeting her (plus I’m nervous as hell!!!).
Have a great time with family and friends, dear readers.
Happy Thanksgiving, Birgit! 🙂
Thanks, Jim! You too!
Have fun! 🙂
Will try! 😉
Happy Thanksgiving, Birgit! What perfume will you be wearing for dinner with the Ambassador?
Ah, THE question!
I’m still dithering around. Probably either Puredistance I or vintage Hermès Calèche extrait. Or maybe Bois des Iles? Help!
Happy Thanksgiving Birgit! My son’s birthday today, we celebrate Thanksgiving tomorrow with him since another son is a US citizen. Ms Wesner sounds amazing. Bet you’ll have a wonderful time.
You too, Lila!
Happy BD to your son.
Ms Wesner is an amazingly successful woman and mother of three – very intimidating but incredibly interesting and admirable!
Have a wonderful time! The concept of turducken amazes me 🙂
It was very good, but I could never assemble the thing, wax too much intimacy with three birds is necessary. 😉
Wishing you a Happy Thanksgiving, Birgit – and a splendid evening with the US ambassador! (Although nothing beats a fabulous dinner of turducken, I imagine!) 😉
Happy Thanksgiving to you too, Suz! 🙂
Wow. I thought you were kidding about the US Ambassador to the Austria but no! Have fun and try to relax. Remember you’re the guest, I’m sure Ms Wesner will be more nervous. Look forward to hearing about it. Very exciting.
Haha, no kidding!
It’ll be an interesting evening at the very least.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours Birgit. Have a fantastic time!
Thank you, Steve! 🙂
I’m from Louisiana, home of the Turducken, and I’m thrilled to see it cropping up in Vienna! The US has spread so many bad food habits that it’s nice to think of some good ones spreading around too. If your husband ever has time, I ‘d love to have him sketch out how he did it. I’m always intrigued by how recipes are tweaked to suit new circumstances.
A very happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.
My husband will be thrilled to read your comment and if time allows I’ll get him to write down his recipe/assembly technique. 🙂
Wow! I do not think I have ever met an ambassador. Your having dinner with one is cool. The Turdusken looks great, I would be happy to have one bird with skin so nice and crispy.
BTW I think you can never go wrong with Bois d’Isle 🙂
I agree, Bois des Iles is always appropriate, and that is what I wore to the dinner in the end. 🙂
Turducken – the fowl equivalent of Russian dolls. ; – ) Good for Dr O, it looks lecker! And have fun with the Ambassador – I am sure you will charm her socks off!
It was very lecker!
The Ambassador was lovely and I was deeply wowed by her numerous achievements. She makes even Obama look like a slacker. 😉
Enjoy, and happy Thanksgiving!
Thank you, you too!
Have a wonderful time,Birgit! I hope you went for the perfume that made you feel confident and beautiful.
Since nobody else was curious (or impolite? 😉 ) enough to ask, I have to! Why did you decide to celebrate Thanksgiving a week before if the official dinner to which you were invited also wasn’t hapenning on actual Thanksgiving Day?
Just like Lady Jane says, we had to pick a weekend, and we invited Sandra and her family, who were leaving for the US the next day to celebrate real Thanksgiving there. 🙂
Hm, I suppose Dr. O wouldn’t have the time for assembling the Turducken on a normal working day… (Thanksgiving is no holiday in Austria !)
Exactly!
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours, too!
That bird looks amazing – great job your husband has accomplished here! I’m impressed big time, the thing looks d-e-l-i-c-i-o-u-s!
Hope you had a wonderful evening with the Ambassador.
Tell us how it went, please and what fragrance you chose in the end 🙂
Have a very HAPPY Thursday xo 🙂
Hello happyface,
I chose Chanel Bois des Iles as my perfume last night and it was a great evening! (Although the food was a bit disappointing, maybe that is because I am spoiled by my cook whiz husband! 😉 )
Thank you for your kind words!
Happy Thanksgiving Birgit! I’m still jealous that your husband can cook.
Yes, he has his advantages… 😉
Happy Thanksgiving dear B! We will be thinking of you all tomorrow. Enjoy your dinner. xoxo
Thanks S! Have a great day today!
That turkey looks delicious! If your still undecided on a perfume to wear to your official dinner, may I suggest a drop of Chanel No 5?
Happy Thanksgiving,
Ali x
Thank you Ali! Have a lovely day today!
That is a BEAUTIFUL turducken! Congratulations to your husband! I would be so proud and I bet it tasted divine. Here’s to many more turduckens and Happy Thanksgiving, Birgit!
Thank you! It tasted divine indeed. I hope/wish you can come over one day to try it yourself!
Me too! One day . . . and that day, we’ll stuff the turducken in a suckling pig and call it a pigturducken 🙂
