The Borrowed Dog – Our Canine Adventures

The farmer on whose land our cottage stands, has a dog called Kira. A labrador (probably no pure breed) who is completely free of any training but full of personality and spunk, Kira is now ours for a few hours every weekend. We try to make her walk on the leash and see how we are all doing with a dog.

It has been great fun and a very good opportunity getting to know an animal more intimately.

Kira suits you perfectly, and after all isn’t Kira a scent from xerjoff as well?

  2. florence raab says:

Kira is gorgeous, be careful not to love her too much, but what a wonderful idea to discover the life with an animal, step by step…..lovely!!!

    • Olfactoria says:

Thanks, Florence! We are lucky Kira is “available for rent”. ๐Ÿ˜‰
I think she relishes all the attention too.

I think dog renting is an excellent idea. There are well trained, patient dogs used in nursing care facilities and trauma dogs, after all – I would love to rent a nice dog for a Sunday afternoon walk and fetch session. There’s a starter company for someone ๐Ÿ™‚ Kira is a darling, glad you are enjoying having a sweet dog to practice on!

  3. Lynley says:

What a great idea! And conveniently, a dog of the same type/nature as you were thinking of, right there to borrow! ๐Ÿ™‚ hope you all have fun with her ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. Tara says:

I agree with others that this was a fabulous idea. The perfect way to try out being dog owners and take the stress out of the final decision.

You look good with a dog in tow B!

    • Olfactoria says:

Yes, I definitely feel less pressured now.

I look a lot less good when Kira decides she wants to take off in hot pursuit of a wandering cat, trailing me along and showing the world who leads whom on that leash. ๐Ÿ˜‰

She is wonderful!!! Sometimes mutts are the best!!!!

  6. FeralJasmine says:

Lovely dog and lovely countryside. Looking good!

  7. Suzanne says:

I’m very impressed, Birgit. I remember one or more of your readers recommending that you do something along these lines, and now you’re doing it! And I quite agree with Tara: you look good with a dog in tow! Kira is a beauty, very sweet and smiley (dogs can look smiley, can’t they?).

  8. Undina says:

The second picture is just magical!

  9. hajusuuri says:

Practice makes perfect! What a lovely post!

  10. Vanessa says:

Kira does perfectly complete the family and the country look. Maybe a lab is the way to go!
