Hearts And Crafts – Les Mains d’Hermès, A Documentary

I couldn’t resist to share this wonderful movie with you.

In this documentary, we get to take a peek into the world of Hermès craftsmen and their work. I find it very touching how they talk about their love for what they do. It is more than a job for these people, it is a vocation and the pride and the genuine satisfaction they radiate is a pleasure to watch.

A word of warning though: it is a very long video, brew a cup of tea and curl up on the couch tonight – and enjoy!

B- this is right up your alley!

  2. No wonder their products are some of the best in the world. I especially liked the fellow who compared craftsmanship with singing. Thank you for posting this.

I found that amazing too! It is great to see these people so fulfilled by what they do day to day.
Hermès is a rare gem, they care more about their products than about profits, and in the long term that makes them incredibly successful.

This is serendipity, I watched this video just yesterday! First I thought “46 minutes, well I’ll only watch for a couple of minutes” but then got stuck for the whole thing- it’s really fascinating. There’s nothing I adore more than genuine craftmanship, makes me want to rush out and buy Hermes-stuff right away (well I have my eyes on a scarf…)

It doesn’t get better! Can we work there, too?! 😀
    Thanks, love the video! 🙂

  5. Dear Brigit
I had actually come across this before and been equally entranced.
Having also read about how the good people of Hermes see themselves as guardians of heritage and developers of fine arts explains all the more why Jean Claude Ellena is retained by them and given such a (within reason) free hand.
    Thank you.
    Yours ever

Oh shucks – the video is no longer playing! Apparently Hermes will send you the schedule in your country if you register for the notice online. I really wanted to watch!
