I have been out looking for angels this week, I found plenty, but they all look terribly sad…
Sightless eyes, mouths open in a silent, anguished scream…
They look scary and scared.
But they still look beautiful…
…from every angle.
Beauty does not necessarily go hand in hand with happiness. Even in pain, beauty can prevail.
Oh too funny Birgit! They really are sad angels aren’t they!
They are.
“even in pain beauty will prevail”….I love that! So well put!
enjoy the day, B.!
I’m trying (battling the flu myself and a sick kid = not ideal).
Thanks for the kind words, brie!
But that is awful 😦 !! The flu is running rampant where I work and I am slathering myself in Thieves Oil balm everynight in hopes of not contracting it.
I hope that you and the little one feel better soon!
I hope you stay healthy!
What a beaufitul, positive spin you’ve put on those anguished angels!
I wonder why they made them look so conflicted… a lot more interesting than smiling ones in any case.
Their faces are a little bit creepy
Absolutely!
but at the same time there’s something interesting in them. Why they look sad one may ask
I always think they look sad because they are captured in stone for all eternity, unable to fly free. (I’m a hopeless romantic though. 😉 )
Sounds like a good and serious reason.
Happy Fat Thursday by the way
And to you! (Here we celebrate Fat Tuesday – Mardi Gras next week).
Nice. Did you see my delicious post picture of pączki and faworki? 🙂
Yes, and I’m all for eating sweets all day long – Thursdays AND Tuesdays. 😉
Let’s make a film Bridget Jones 3: A year without a restricted diet! Haha!
😀
Don’t you think it would be a top comedy?
Such a beautiful way of putting it!
Thank you.
Oh, the first one especially looks like a Weeping Angel from Dr. Who…Don’t blink or turn your back on it!!
Haha, I won’t! 🙂
Even in pain, beauty can prevail………your words have really struck a chord with me, Birgit. I believe it.
Hope you and your son feel better soon.
I’m glad you feel these words resonate with you.
Big hug, dear Melis.
Thanks, sweet lady :). Sending one right back to you.
I’m going to pretend that these angels have these looks on their faces because they are writhing in ecstasy … that they are angels visiting Sexy Town, and we just can’t see what else is going on. 😀
(Can I suggest that on your family-friendly blog? If not, feel free to delete. I just need my angels to be sexy if they’re going to look that way.)
That is such a Suzanne thing to say, I love it! A great way of interpreting their expressions. 🙂
I think they are sad because of all the living they missed to get to heaven, what do you think Birgit?
Portia xx
Good thought, Portia.
This post makes me really want to come to Vienna. I love the Siberry/Lang song as well…..
That song is so ethereal, I love it.
Come to Vienna!! 🙂
I definitely will at some point…
There is an angel that sits on the edge of my bed every night……… He has been there as long as I can remember.
That must give you such a feeling of safety.
and even more so of love. So I share that love with you.
hugs
Lanier
Thank you very much, Lanier. I can feel it. xo
Birgit, they are just freezing! You should try taking pictures of the same angels in Spring: you’ll see, they will be much jollier 😉
!!
These angels are borderline gargoyles, haha, and I do love me a good gargoyle. No complaints here!
Very true! It is how it goes, no? Angels fall and become devils, apparently architects have heeded that age-old knowledge.
