I like lists so thought we’d have a bit of fun and I’d ask you to pick one perfume brand of your choice and list your 3 favourite perfumes in the line. Now I understand that for ‘fume fans this can be more stressful than fun, so you don’t have to list them in order, if it’s too painful to rank your beloveds. If you’d like to choose more than one brand, feel free. Of course, your choices come with the understanding that they are of this moment only and subject to change at any time. 🙂
My Answer:
When I came to answer this myself I was surprised to find that although I like two fragrances from most perfume houses, it was hard to find one where I loved three. This is further evidence of how fussy I am, but in the end I picked Chanel. Sadly I don’t get on with the mainstream Chanel line so these are all from Les Exclusifs, with the first being my most loved (although I was sorely tempted to declare a joint first):
- Bois des Iles
- 31 Rue Cambon
- Cuir de Russie
Very much looking forward to reading your lists!
Hmmmm…I don’t think I can limit myself to one brand.
Amouage: Lyric, Epic, Opus III
Chanel: Bois des Iles, No. 22., Cuir de Russie
Eau d’Italie: Baume du Doge, Bois d’Ombrie, Magnolia Romana
Parfums de Rosine: La Rose de Rosine, Poussiere de Rose, Ecume de Rose
Guerlain: L’Heure Bleue, Shalimar, Chamade (vintage versions)
Creed: Fantasia de Fleurs, Fleurs de Bulgarie, Fleurissimo
Have a lovely week!
Nice picks, Caro. I’m very glad you didn’t limit yourself to one brand, you’ve got a nice selection there. It will be interesting to see how the Guerlain Top 3s go. Right now I’d put vintage Vol de Nuit parfum at the top of mine.
Have a great week too!
This one is just too difficult for me – there are too many! Most of my favorite houses have at least five scents I consider fantastic. I supposed listing Vero Profumo would be cheating. 😉
I’ll nominate Tauer. I like a number from his line, but three stand above the others in bottle-worthiness:
Orris ( the best rose-iris scent – ever )
Carillon Pour Un Ange ( the best modernist muguet )
Miriam ( best retro-modern floral I’ve smelled )
I think if Andy had kept Orris on the market it would have equaled L’Air in popularity.
Oh it is such a shame Orris was a limited edition. I’ve never tried it but I’m sure it would be love. Interesting to know that you rate the new Miriam so highly.
You can rank the 3 Vero Profumo’s if you’d like!
Miriam is STUNNING. Have you smelled Nostalgie? The two are very similar in construction, to my mind. Both wonderful.
Oooh this is a tricky question Tara!
Hmm, so if I were to pick one of my favourite brands, my list would look like this:
Thierry Mugler
1. Alien Le Goût du Parfum
2. Angel Eau de Parfum
3. Mugler Cologne
I know! This question is pleasure for some and pain for others 🙂
I’m glad you picked Mugler as it’s a line you know so well and I know so little. I hear so many good things about the Cologne though that I must try it when the weather improves. Very interesting to see that Alien Le Gout de Parfum topped Angel for you.
I did go back and forth with Alien and Angel to start with, but then I realised that LGDP was the one that I REALLY loved.
Cologne is really good stuff, you should give it a go! It’s like a classic cologne given the Mugler treatment and it has a good balance of natural vs synthetic vs what the….
Oh and like B and Sugandaraja I could have happily chosen the Vero Profumo trio too!
You know, I’m really impressed by how tough you are all being with yourselves and not taking the Vero Profumo easy option!
We’re good like that 😛
Absolutely!
It’s interesting how being forced to rank your favourites can throw up some surprises for yourself.
I think a cologne really needs to have a twist to make it worth the purchase and it sounds like Mugler Cologne certainly has that!
For sure! It actually adds something new to a very tired genre.
At first this was actually harder than I imagined as I only wanted to list a house with 3 perfumes I genuinely loved, hence both Chanel and Frederic Malle had to fall by the wayside. But then I found I couldn’t stop…
Guerlain: Shalimar, Attrape-Coeur & Apres L’Ondee
Parfum d’Empire: Cuir Ottoman, Equistrius & Iskander
Serge Lutens: Chergui, Ambre Sultan & Musc Koublai Khan (with huge apologies to Bois de Violette)
Ormonde Jayne, Ormande Woman, Ta’if & Tolu
I think I may like my Orientals….Thank you – I enjoy a list too. Have a good day!
Nice to see another list lover, Alexandra! What a lot of gorgeous orientals. Attrape-Coeur is such a beautiful violet amber, I hope you got bottle before it was discontinued. I think Shalimar will be in a lot of Guerlain lists and quite rightly.
I must look into Iskander as I haven’t tried that one. Glad you are also a fan of the under-rated Equistrius.
I have wanted to try Bois de Violette for the looongest time…
I’ve been thinking about this for a while now and I’m tempted to do like Caro or Alexandra and list a few houses, or go with Sugandaraja and say Vero Profumo (nothing must feel left out there), but that would be cheating…
The next phase was an internal debate between Chanel, Guerlain (sounds familiar!) and Dior. (I let PG go from the start, I could never pick only three.)
So let’s see:
Chanel: 31 Rue Cambon and Coromandel (only two that are absolutely necessary)
Guerlain: Cuir Beluga and Shalimar and…. (just not possible to pick only three)
Dior:
1. Bois d’Argent
2. New Look 1947
3. Dioressence (vintage)
So Dior it is. (For now. For today.) 🙂
Woiw, Bois d’Argent came in above New Look 1947! Oh I’m pleased you love it that much, even if it’s just for today 🙂
I’m glad people are doing more than one list – the more the merrier! I envy you for loving so many in each line. I kept getting stuck at 2!
Hmmm, this was indeed a hard question to answer but I think I will have to go with Guerlain as I seem to be having a Guerlain month (I was late to the party I admit)
Tonka Imperial, Gourmand Coquin, Iris Granache.
Gourmand Coquin is on my FB list as I have gone through my decant so quickly,( I may need to enlist your help to get my hands on a bottle)
My other house that I could easily pick 3 favourites from (and indeed own two of them) is By Kilian.
Back to Black, Sweet Redemtion and Beyond Love.
I am working on the Chanels (I am sniffing the exclusifs tomorrow) but so far there are two that I love and have decants of:
31 Rue Cambon and Beige, I suspect I may well like Bois des Iles (Although maybe not as it will be an expensive day for me)
Sorry to cause you stress, Andrea!
I see all your Guerlain picks are from the exclusive lines – you clearly have expensive tastes! I can facilitate that Gourmand Coquin anytime.
As for the Kilian’s, Rose Oud is way out in front for me but I like Sweet Redemption and admire Back to Black. I’m not woman enough for Beyond Love 🙂
Have fun tomorrow. If you don’t fall for Bois des Iles I will be amazed…
Thanks for offering to facilitate for me, I have stuidly expensive tastes when it comes to the Guerlains.
I am taking your challenge of the Bois des Iles, lets see if I come back with a FB, knowing my luck I will indeed love it but they will be out of stock..
I am not woman enough yet to own a FB of beyond love, I am relying on lots of samples that I have managed to aquire, I did not get on with the Rose Oud but then I am not a great Rose or Oud lover (unless in the dozen form for valentines day)
Well you are welcome to my Beyond Love sample then. I know it will never be for me but Harvey Nics have more if need be. Rose Oud took me a while to fall for completely because it took me a while to come round to oud but I was always big rose fan.
Let me know how you get on with Bois des Iles.
Maybe L’Artisan, if I have to limit it to one:
Dzongkha
Dzing!
Al Oudh
furriner, there are so many to choose from with L’Artisan you did well just narrowing it down to 3. Dzing! is one of those perfumes that I can’t wear but hugely admire. I should give Dzongkha another go and I need to try Al Oudh.
Ok, I’ll go with brands where I love several of their perfumes:
SL: Ambre Sultan, Feminite du Bois, Serge Noire
Guerlain: Shalimar, Jicky, Tonka Imperiale
Parfum d’Empire: Fougere Bengale, Ambre Russe, and the cologne one (forgot exact name)
Chanel: 18, 19, Coromandel
L’Artisan: l’Eau d’Ambre, Vanilia, Ananas Fizz
MdO: Vetyver, Vanilla, Tubereuse
I think I’ll stop now. 🙂
No Ines, don’t stop, I was enjoying your lists 🙂
I would never have guessed that No. 18 wass your favourite Chanel, so interesting. Three very different ambers in there too.
I wonder if Iskander is the cologne one you’re thinking of from Parfums d’Empire that I don’t know?
It’s Eau de Gloire (I went to check). The eau part makes me always think of it as cologne type of scent. 🙂
Ah, OK. Thanks Ines.
Hi Tara, thanks for the Monday question:-)
I can’t name only 3 Serge’s OR only 3 Guerlains for that matter, but I’ll try and name three and they will not be in order.
Guerlain; Vol de Nuit extrait (ther you have it ;-)), Guet-Apens/ Attrape Coeur, Aroma Allegoria Exaltant and Samsara extrait (‘vintage’ formulation, although to be fair I didn’t smell the modern extrait) – That’s 4, but I simply can do no less. And realising this I give up with Serge:-)
But I can do an Armani privé: Bois D’Encens, Femme Bleue and Cuir Noir!
Have a lovely Monday
Hi Asali, thanks for joining in and picking your Top 3s despite the difficulty!
I haven’t heard of Aroma Allegoria Exaltant so that’s another one for me to look into. If it makes your Top 3(4) it must be good!
Nice Armani Prive choices, classy stuff.
DC- stuff, so sorry, Tara. It’s gorgeous though, if you like my other choices for Guerlain, you’d love this one too I’m sure. Suzanne did a fabulous review of it a few weeks ago.
No problem at all. I’ll catch up with Suzanne’s review but I won’t dare sample it as falling for vintage Vol de Nuit is bad enough!
Thanks for the info.
No problem (I rather have the problem to stop writing the list…)
L’Artisan : Vetiver Sacre; Dzing!; Dzonghka
Frederic Malle : Bigarade Concentree; Cologe Bigarade; Noir Epices
Serge Lutens : Gris clair; Clair de Musc; Iris Silver Mist
Chanel : Bois des Iles; Bel respiro; No.18
Keiko Mecheri: Les Zazous; Mulholland; Taormine
Glad it didn’t cause you any pain lady jane grey!
I’m happy to see we have Bois des Iles in common and I really liked Bel Respiro when I tried it for the first time a few months ago.
I think you’re the first to do Malle – my no. 1 would be Portrait of a Lady which I did a big turn around on. Glad you chose Keiko Mecheri too as it’s lesser known.
This is a fun question. The following are my favorites in no particular order:
By Kilian – Liaisons Dangereuses, Louve, Rose Oud, (sorry can’t leave out Incense Oud)
Amouage – Jubilation 25, Memoir, Opus III
Ormonde Jayne – Ta’if, Sampaquita, Champaca
I enjoy reading the lists. Thank you.
Hi Sandra! Glad this is fun for you.
I have a sample of Incense Oud at home which I’m afraid to try because being in love with Rose Oud is expensive enough! Might try it tonight after your mention though.
Ta’if and Champaca would be in my Ormonde Jayne Top 3 too.
Oh this is easy, I’ll limit myself to the two houses that immediately came to mind.
Parfums d’Empire: Fougere Bengale, Ambre Russe and Cuir Ottoman.
Hermes: Terre d’Hermes, Hiris, Jardin sur le Nil.
Ha! Others are finding it tough but it’s no problem for you, Phillip! Great.
Parfums d’Empire are proving popular today though no one’s picked one of my faves – Osmanthus Interdite.
Nice to see Hermes. I have a preference for the Hermessences unfortunately 🙂
Parfums d’Empire do themselves a big favour by having a lovely and affordable sample set! Just wish everyone did…
Totally agree, Alexandra. It makes such a difference. I understand Juliette Has a Gun do a good one too.
I love reading and making lists! What fun. Sometimes I make a “desert island” list when I’m stuck in traffic or something, i.e. if I could only take five or six perfumes with me to live with for the rest of my life, what would they be.
In keeping with your original one house idea, here’s my list:
No. 5 Eau Premiere, Cristalle edp, Coromandel
Yay, Suzy Q, another list fan!
Interesting to see you go for Coromandel after two quite bright fragrances. No. 5 Eau Premiere is a mainstream Chancel fave for a lot of ‘fume fans.
Hmm, this one made me think (and that’s a good thing!). Here’s my list as of this morning!
Chanel: No. 5 eau Premiere, Bel Respiro, Bois des Iles (Bonus points: No. 22, Cuir de Russi and Cristalle Au Verte)
Hermes: Santal Massoia, Ambre Narguile, Un Jardin Apres La Mousson
And because I decided not to be afraid of ridicule, I also admit to the following:
Bulgari: Black, Mon Jasmin Noir, Pour Femme
No ridicule here, my friend! I bought Bulgari Black and Jasmin Noir for my sister. Black is a classic.
Love Ambre Narguile in very cold weather such as we have in the UK right now and Santal Massoia sounds wonderful.
I think it would be hard for most us not to think of 3 Chanels we loved. Very interested to see Bel Respiro again.
Glad I made you think!
When I your headline, my immediate reaction was
Chanel: Bois des Iles (worn twice in the past three days), Cuir de Russie, No.19. But upon further reflection Frederic Malle: Portrait of A Lady, Vetiver Extraordinaire, Le Parfum de Therese, L’Eau d’Hiver, En Passant, Angeliques Sous La Pluie. Limiting myself to three in Malle is hard.
Frederic Malle’s line is of such high quality I’m not surprised you found it hard to limit yourself to 3, Tatiana. I did a surprisiny turnaround on Portrait of a Lady and love it now along with Une Rose and Le Parfum de Therese. Looking forward to trying En Passant, a fave of Birgit’s.
Bois des Iles and Cuir de Russie are especially good in the winter.
When I read about your post topic, my top 3 Ormonde Jaynes sprang to mind quick as a flash!
Ta’if, Tiare and Orris Noir
: – )
Oh, and I can do Kenzo and Blvgari pretty easily too…
Kenzo: Flower Essentielle, Flower Oriental, Eau de Fleur de Magnolia
Blvgari: Black, Jasmin Noir, Femme (similar to Shabbus!)
Hermes: Santal Massoia, Vanilla Galante, Eau Claire des Merveilles (name is approximate!)
Knowing that you and B both really like Santal Massoia, really makes me think it’s for me too, Vanessa!
If those 3 OJs came to you that quickly you must be telling the truth 🙂
Vanille Galante, sorry.
Then lastly Dior: New Look 1947, Ambre Nuit, Bois d’Argent
A lot of my favourites seem to come in threes in fact…. : – )
Oooh so Ambre Nuit hasn’t quite stolen the top spot yet then. Glad to see Bois d’Argent made it into your Top 3.
So 3 must be your magic number 🙂
No, based on spontaneous recall I did say New Look first, didn’t I?, which we market researchers believe is significant… And yes, Bois d’Argent made it into my Top 3 and into my possession thanks to a certain fragrant enabler…. : – )
V, I’m going to get a sample of New Look next time I’m at a Dior counter (and they have one!) because I only sprayed it on paper once – which I can’t even remember now. I really think I could be ready for it, espec. as you and B and I think, dee, love it too.
Great question, Tara. Here are mine…
Amouage: Jubilation 25, Opus I, Ubar
Chanel: No. 22, Coromandel, Coco
Frederic Malle: Carnal Flower, Le Parfum de Therese, Lipstick Rose
Serge Lutens: Muscs Koublai Khan, Boxeuses, Chergui
Now the only question is, why don’t I own full bottles of all of these?
Thanks, Suzanne!
Wow, your taste in perfume is so evolved. I am in awe. Who else could pull off Carnal Flower, MKK and Ubar, but you? I’m so safe! Great picks. I shall read up on Opus 1.
I can see no reason why you do not have full bottles of all of these. Please put this right as soon as possible 🙂
I am the same, haha! Now if we were properly selective like B, instead of succumbing to impulse albatrosses (speaking for myself) we would do!
Terrible but, at the same time, except Guerlain, I haven’t three favourites in the same brand so, well not yet (soon with Tom Ford Private Blend I think!)
So Guerlain:
– Oriental Brûlant,
-L’Heure Bleue EDP,
– Cuir Beluga
but I’m not far to fall for Gourmand Coquin and I’ll soon discover Chypré Fatal so life is too hard!!!!
Hi raab!
I’m the same as you, I mostly like only 2 from the majority of brands. Difficult not to find 3 Guerlains to love though. I think Oriental Brulant and Gourmand Coquin are both really well done and L’HB is just a classic.
Life is hard when there are so many great Guerlains and so little cash 🙂
Shiseido: vintage Feminité du Bois, Zen (in black bottle), Energising
Hi Edna, we haven’t had Shiseido yet so nice choice. Unfortunately for me Feminite du Bois HATES me but that vintage formulation has to be one of the all time Perfumista Greats.
Although I have a lot of decants, I only own three full bottles from one brand, Ormonde Jayne:
1. Woman
2. Tolu
3. Champaca
If I could own three bottles from Amouage, they would be:
1. Lyric Woman
2. Epic Woman
3. Vintage Ubar (which I do own because I stumbled on a old bottle at an out of the way shop for the original, old stock price)
Nice to see you Nina!
Well Ormonde Jayne is a great house so no surprise you have 3 of their bottles. I should buy more decants but I don’t think it’s ever going to happen. I am too weak! I LOVE Champaca and I hope to learn to love Woman one day as it’s so unique.
What a great find that vintage Ubar was and at a vintage price! This is the stuff Fumehead dreams are made of…
I have not had as much experience as most of you since access to many scents is not readily available where I live. Like many others I do love Guerlain and my choices are probably not any where as sophisticated as many of yours, but here they are 1. Jicky 2. Vol de Nuit 3.Eau de Cologne Imperiale.
I also loved my mother’s favorite scent, L’Interdit, but no others by Givenchy.
Hi Anita, it must be hard living somewhere with limited access to high end perfume, especially if you keep reading about them! I think you list is very sophisticated and I’d have 2 mainstreams in my Guerlain list too (Vol de Nuit and Shalimar).
Thank you for your kind reply, Tara.
Anita, you’re very welcome!
This is such a fun idea Tara! Here are mine:
Amouage: Memoir, Opus IV, Epic
Sonoma Scent Studio: Champagne de Bois, Tabac Aurea, Fig Tree
Ormonde Jayne: Orris Noir, Woman, Champaca
L’Artisan: Safran Troublant, Havana Vanille, Traversee du Bosphore
Chanel: Bois des Iles, no. 19, NO 5! (just added today!)
But, if I had to pick just one house for the challenge (lol), it would be the Amouage 😉
Here is the lost comment! For some unknown reason it was deemed spam by WordPress. Unforgivable! 😉
Such lovely choices, Dee!
Thanks so much for rescuing dee’s comment, B! I keep reading it trying to figure out what the spam trigger word might have been 🙂
I must try Traversee de Bosphore again as you both like and I know it has a lot of fans. Maybe in warmer weather.
My first comment got lost, which makes me sad, so I’ll just stick with the one house to rule them all:
Amouage: Memoir, Opus IV, Epic
This was a spectacularly fun idea Tara! 🙂
Oh, I’m so sorry your first comment got swallowed up! For you and the rest of us that didn’t get to read it but you’ve gone straight to the top of the shop with Amouage. I know that Memoir is your “Queen of the World” perfume and that Opus IV and Epic hold special associations for you, so it’s a lovely, personal list.
Glad you think it was a fun idea, dear dee!
Great question! Find it fun and difficult to stop.
Chanel – Beige, Cristalle EDP and EDT (Cheating – I know they don’t really count as one!), can’t choose between Eau Premiere and No 5 parfum. Chanel girl here (obviously), wishing I knew more about les Exclusifs. When I did run across a Chanel boutique on holiday Beige called out to me and I love it .
Guerlain – Apres L’Ondee, Chamade, Shalimar Initial
L’Artisan – Mure et Musc, Drole de Rose and Tea for Two
Prada Infusion D’Iris EDP, Eau Ambree, Candy
Ormonde Jayne Osmanthus, Tiare, Ta’if
I do love Les Exclusifs and hope you get to explore them more. I need to get to know Chanel no 5 parfum better.
Interesting that Shalimar Parfum Initial has made it into your Top 3. It is really well done, I think.
Tauer (not counting Tableau de Parfums): Reverie au Jardin, Orange Star, Une Rose Vermeille.. Carrillon Pour un Ange would be there too if I got a fourth choice!
The Tauers are very special. Thanks for sharing your favourites, Susan!
Oh, the pain…
Guerlain: Mitsouko, Derby and Habit Rouge.
Although I don’t know how I could live without L’Heure Bleue, Jicky and Mouchoir de Monsieur.
Thanks for enduring the pain willread!
I think you’re the first to put Mitsouko first for Guerlain. I like the current version but think I’d be in big trouble if I ever tried the vintage. Luckily you don’t have to live without your other 3!
The perfume house is easy pick for me. Guerlain. The three I could not live without:
L’Heure Bleue in edp format (my license plate is abbreviated to LHRBLU), Apres L’Ondee (a tiny amount remaining), and my discontinued winter staple, Winter Delice.
What a cool license plate Jeannemarie! I’m going to give Apres l’Ondee another try and see if I can get over my heliotrope aversion – I do think it’s beautiful.
I hear good things about Winter Delice, glad you have some.
I can’t do just one house.
Guerlain: Vega, Chamade, and Shalimar Light. (The rest you can keep. I like L’HB in parfum, and I like Terracotta Voile d’Ete, but I only LIKE them.)
DSH Perfumes: Rose Vert, Oeillets Rouges, and Susinon (1000 Lilies).
Sonoma Scent Studio: Tabac Aurea, Nostalgie, Jour Ensoleille. And Champagne de Bois. And Lieu de Reves. Wait. That WAS three, right?
Chanel: No. 19, vintage No. 5 parfum, and Bois des Iles.
Amouage: Memoir Woman, Lyric Woman, and… uh… never mind.
F Malle: Iris Poudre, Carnal Flower, and… dang.
This was tougher than I thought!
Hi mals, I’m glad you didn’t stick to just one.
If I ever get to Paris Vega (and Sous le Vent) are on the top of my list to try. I bought Terracotta Voile d’Ete unsniffed because it’s cheap and I like it but it’s not love for me either.
Lots of popular SSS picks there. Nostalgie seems to have been a big hit. Glad you like Bois des Iles too.
Yes, at first thought it seems easy, until you try to pin them down…
Oops, I started typing my comment, my brain froze, and my comment was lost midway through. This is a great question, Tara, because I literally can’t think of one line which has three fragrances that are all three in my top 10 ever. I don’t know why I never realized this before. From Chanel, No. 19. Maybe in a pinch No. 5 Eau Premiere. From Guerlain, Shalimar and in a pinch Vol de Nuit. From Hermes, Vetiver Tonka and in a pinch Eau de Merveilles. And so on and so forth. Ormonde Jayne probably comes closest, with Tolu, Ormonde Woman, and in a pinch Orris Noir.
Hi Natalie!
Yes, aside from Guerlain and Chanel I’m pretty much the same. OJ: Champaca, Ta’if…Parfums d’Empire: Equistrius, Osmanthus Interdite…By Kilian: Rose Oud, Sweet Redemption…Annick Goural: Ambre Fetiche…
It’s funny how you don’t realise till you really think about it, but it’s nice to a nice spread of favourites over lots of brands rather than just sticking to a couple.
I was thinking what a challenge this question is. Then I remembered Amouage.
Amouage!
1. Lyric
2. Epic
3. Jubilation 25
Sometimes I wished I never met Amouage. Sigh…
A very close second choice of house would be Chanel, with Bois des Iles at the top and a tie between Cuir de Russie and Coco.
Wonderful post!
Thanks Amy, I’m glad you enjoed today’s question!
Amouage has been very popular today and so it should. Though I haven’t found my perfect Amouage yet, I love the amazingly high quality and how long they last on skin with gorgeous sillage. One premium brand that is worth the price.
I hope I’m not too late – it’s a fun question! Let’s see… (opening a database)
Annick Goutal: Ambre Fetiche, Heure Exquise and Petite Cherie;
Chanel: No 19 EdT, Cuir de Russie and Coco (there are more);
Dior: Diorella, Miss Dior and New Look 1947 (there are more);
DSH Perfumes: Muguet Cologne, Oeillets Rouge and Vert Pour Madame;
Frederic Malle: Portrait of a Lady, Iris Poudre and Une Fleur de Cassie;
Hermès: Terre d’Hermès, Vetiver Tonka and Rose Ikebana;
Jo Malone: French Lime Blossom, Sweet Milk and Dark Amber & Ginger Lily (there are more);
Ormonde Jayne: Ta’if, Orris Noir and Tiare (there are more);
Serge Lutens: Ambre Sultan, Jeux de Peau and Fille en Aiguilles (there are more);
Sonoma Scent Studio: Fig Tree, To Dream and Winter Woods (there are more);
Thierry Mugler: Angel, Angel Taste of Fagrance and A MEN Pure Havane;
Tom Ford: Arabian Wood, Tobacco Vanille and Violet Blonde (there are more).
I love that list (long live the database!).
You have everything covered. I am impressed that Une Fleur de Cassie is among your to three Malles, I need to really get to know this perfume. I always kind of dodged it so far. 😉
Hi Undina, I’m glad you did a Top 3 for Jo Malone as we don’t have another Top 3 for that house and I know you know it better than most.
DSH is another great pick. I must try Oeillets Rouge one of these day and I’ve read good things about Vert Pour Madame.
I’ve fallen head over heels for SL Ambre Sultan, from Guerlain (difficult, very difficult), L’heure Bleue and Apres L’ondee …. perfumes I can’t live without and wear daily so not the niche beauties are .. Creed, Virgin Island Water, and JPG Classique…. that’s too many for the list of three but ah, well.
I think nearly everyone’s found it hard to rank their favourite three from Guerlain. Very tough!
Ambre Sultan is a SL modern classic.
Only tried Virgin Island Water but think it was very nice and you’re first – I think – to mention JPG!
Because picking 3 favorites from one brand is too much like Sophie’s Choice I will go with three:
Serge Lutens:
Feminite du Bois, Jeux de Peau, Ambre Sultan
By Kilian:
Liasons Dangereuse, Rose Oud, Love and Tears
Frederic Malle:
Musc Ravageur, Portrait of a Lady, Une Fleur de Cassie
Looks like I really need to discover Guerlain fragrances….
Lovely choices, Alexis! Guerlain is a world you won’t want to come out of again, once you’ve entered… 😉
My answer is Penhaligon’s:
Blenheim Bouquet
English Fern
Sartorial
