Merry Christmas – Happy Holidays!

In Austria, Christmas Eve is the big day. Like the British Royal Family, Austrians celebrate on the evening of the 24th.  My SotD will in all probability be Puredistance I, my go-to celebration perfume.

Can I get this next year, please?

So I wish you a very happy time, have fun, relax and enjoy the time with your loved ones.

I hope everyone of you is in the company they want to be in, and has everything they need.

Thank you for reading Olfactoria’s Travels. Your support and friendships are my favorite Christmas gift.

Merry Christmas to you all!

I’ve been wearing Mona’s perfumes every day lately – I love them. But now after Vanille it’s a drop of my quite old Shalimar that’s smelling so lovely as well.
Merry Christmas to you and your family, Birgit! Thank you for your lovely blog – this is a wonderful gift for us.

    • Olfactoria says:

I have been wearing the Mona di Orio perfumes a lot as well lately. But Shalimar is a perfect choice for today, Isabelle!
Have a wonderful Christmas! And thank you very much for your kind words!

Happy Christmas, Birgit – will doubtless be doing that “this time last week” routine at various points through the day. It was great to meet you again and your sweet (and exceptionally well behaved) children. : – ) I will get to writing up my account of the day over the holidays! And thanks are also due to Mr O for taking the kids off for a bit and thereby creating our “sniffing window”.

So glad that Puredistance1 is agreeing with your skin again, as it is a beauty. I might wear it today on my last minute dash to town to track down emergency gravy and the like.

Hope you have a great day today and receive some fragrant gifts…

    • Olfactoria says:

Thank you, Vanessa! Merry Christmas to you too!
My so-called well-behaved children are already a bit anxious for tonight’s festivities to start, so we are trying to calm them with lunch at McDonalds ( and thereby honoring an old Oeckher tradition). 😉

Enjoy your turkey and hopefully you find something to smell under the tree tomorrow morning!

Merry Christmas, I hope you have a wonderful one. 🙂

Merry Christmas from Florida, I love that postcard! Our palm trees are decked and all the alligators are wearing cute Santa hats, as are the surfers!

  5. Sandra says:

Merry Christmas Birgit! Enjoy the evening and the fun tonight. We are certainly getting excited. Trying to get my son to nap so he can stay up a bit tonight. Should be great.

  6. Fernando says:

Merry Christmas! We’ve designed our celebration to focus on the original twelve days, beginning tomorrow and going all the way to Epiphany. A small celebration each day, starting with the Christmas Eve service tonight.

Thank you for making your blog so interesting!

    Merry Christmas, Birgit!

    Happy Christmas!

My tradition of opening one present on Christmas eve has turned into my opening a present whenever it arrives: since presents come to me from different places, it’s almost like celebrating the twelve days of Christmas– they’re just 12 random days… Lol!

But tomorrow morning I will get to open my perfume, which has been safely hidden in the hubby’s drawer… I’m looking forward to wearing it 🙂

  9. civava says:

Merry Christmas to you and to all your readers.

  10. Tara says:

I think the British are the odd ones out in Europe for celebrating mostly on Christmas Day (except for the Royal family!). I’m mainly looking forward to my turkey with all the trimmings tomorrow.

Hope your boys have a wonderful time tonight – that’s such a gorgeous pic!
    Merry Christmas dear Birgit!

Christmas Greetings from sunny Florida! It’s 80 here, with 77% humidity, which makes it hotter still. What fragrance will I wear for Christmas? My fragrance choice will have to be based on the weather…if it chills down some, L’Heure Bleu. If it’s still hot/humid, Jicky. Or my hot and humid fall back, Holy Water. Merry Christmas, Birgit, and thank you for your blog! 🙂 🙂 🙂 And best to “the husband”, too, and your readers, every one.

Hubby and I got a big kick out of y’all wanting to be here. We have the central air on, lol. Love that postcard! 🙂

PS: In response to your poll a few weeks ago, “Guerlain or Chanel?” When I was younger, I was a Chanel girl. Started off with Chanel 19 and worked my way into Cristalle. Now that I am–ahem–“in my prime”–I seem to have become a “Guerlain Girl”.

    • Olfactoria says:

Oh, thank you for those greeting from Florida! I always dream of being there, but when I actually am, I can’t stand the humidity! 🙂
But even if I complain a bit, I love Florida.
Merry Christmas to you and your family!

Funnily, since this poll, where I answered Chanel, I am on a massive Guerlain kick, it is as if my Guerlain side needs to assert itself. 😉

  12. Merry Christmas Birgit!

I hope you and your family have a great time and that you receive lots of scented goodies! 😀

  13. Caro says:

Merry Christmas, dear Birgit! May you and your loved ones enjoy a peaceful evening. I am thinking a lot about beautiful Vienna today.
We also celebrate tonight instead of tomorrow. Thankfully the weather is not as hot as it tends to be in this time of the year (it usually is on the 30-something degrees centigrade).
I will be wearing Chanel No. 22, but Knize Belle Epoque (which I am reviewing right now) looks tempting too.

    • Olfactoria says:

      Merry Christmas, Caro!
Wow, 30 degrees for Christmas – that makes the classic winter perfumes hard to wear I guess. But Chanel No22 is a wonderful choice.
      Have a great evening!

  14. Ari says:

The merriest of christmases to you and your adorable family! You are an absolutely lovely woman and your blog is an utter pleasure to read!

  15. Aaron says:

Hi Birgit! Merry Christmas. Have a great time!

  16. Suzanne says:

Merry Christmas, Birgit! I love the photo of your boys ~ they’re adorable, and I have a feeling Santa won’t be able to resist being extra good to them. 🙂

  17. Merry Christmas to you and the boys (and your DH as well!), Birgit!

I will be spending tomorrow doing chores and finding the time to open my presents before doing more chores! Ah, Christmas as an adult isn’t quite what I hope it’d be, but I am terribly grateful for everything and everyone in my life – you included, of course! xoxoxo

  18. I hope you had a wonderful Christmas season, Birgit! Lots of love and wishing all the best for you in the new year.

  19. Undina says:

It’s too late for Christmas (I hope it was great for your family) but I wish you the happiest New Year!

  20. GeM says:

    Me too!
There’s a striking resemblance to you in that beautiful photo of the two cute kids! 🙂

Puredistance I is literally a ‘Fairy Tale’ scent. I felt like I was flying or floating through the clouds in the way to the Neverland.
