Last Week In Perfume Land – Weekend Link Love

Fall has arrived. Mornings are decidedly cooler, the air is fresh and bracing, fog is rolling in and taking a while to dissipate. The trees are starting to turn all colors and loose the first leaves. That means heavier perfumes are in order. I love to get out my ambers and orientals and dark and mysterious scents once more. Wearing Chanel Coromandel the other day made me perfectly happy with the approaching colder season.

We are spending our Sunday at the Little House on the Prairie, as we have come to call our weekend house. My younger son is in love with the cows, he plays with his toy cow all day and it happy when he gets to see the real ones. He is mooing along with the best of them…

Let us sit down and take an hour of time for ourselves and see what the last week in Perfumeland had to offer:

Another Perfume Blog reviewed the new Bottega Veneta scent, I am very curious…

Carrie on Eyeliner On A Cat indulges in a Mandy Aftel body oil that (for the umpteenth time) makes me wish the internet had a scratch and sniff option.

The Non-Blonde discussed a topic very dear to my perfume-obsessed little heart – exclusivity.

Tommy, The Candy Perfume Boy had a great week, but if I have to pick a favorite post this week, it is this.

Ines of All I Am – A Redhead is giving advice to new Perfumistas, and great advice at that!

Suzanne’s Perfume Journal reviews Annick Goutal Heure Exquise and compares it to one of my favorite movies, set in my city, a must read!

And finally, my favorite future bestseller author, Tarleisio of Scent Less Sensibilities has me salivating over – what else? – an amber. I hope she doesn’t doubt my motto, “Always room for one more amber!” any longer. 🙂

Have a good Sunday? Exiting plans anyone? Let me live vicariously through you!

  1. Thank you for the link love Birgit 🙂

  2. Thanks so much for the link Birgit! Are those actual pictures of the cows at your weekend home? They are SO CUTE! I love cows. 🙂

    • Olfactoria says:

No, my photographic skills are not so great sadly, but “our” cows look just like these. 🙂 It is really lovely, sitting at the kitchen table and watching the cows just outside the window. New experiences for this city girl…

Birgit, we are finally experiencing some Fall weather, too — it’s blue-sky beautiful here today and cool, and I’m feeling inspired to actually do some cooking. Yesterday I made a pot of chicken noodle soup and today I think I’m going to drive out to one of the apple orchards near us to get some McIntosh apples, if they’re ready.

Thank you very much for the link love. Writing my post this week made me want to visit Vienna. I’ve come close (Switzerland), so I’m sure I will someday.

    • Olfactoria says:

My husband cooked up a storm too this weekend, I’m stuffed to the gills and almost unable to move. 😉

I hope you will come to Vienna one day, it would be so great to meet you!!!

  4. Vanessa says:

Enjoying being home today – that is excitement enough! Tomorrow will be my first Monday at my own desk – rather than at the wheel etc – since 15.08.

You appear to be doing a complete line in close ups of animal noses… : – 0

    • Olfactoria says:

Close-ups of animal noses are an underappreciated field, I plan to singlehandedly change that and get those noses the admiration they deserve!

Glad you are home in one piece, enjoy and relax as much as possible! 🙂

Enjoy your weekend at the “Little House”! And thank you for the link. 🙂

  6. Tarleisio says:

Thank you so, so much for the link love, Birgit! My weekend plans included nothing more exciting than the sense of accomplishment only sparkling clean windows and curtains can give you – and cooking Boeuf Bourgignon because it’s finally cool enough for that!

I love those cows! They make me feel so at home…;)

    Have a great evening!

    • Olfactoria says:

You should see my windows, or better not… so that is quite an accomplishment.
I love how you mention Boeuf Bourgignon and loving cows in the same comment. 🙂
      Have a good evening, T.

  7. Birgit, I am so happy to have discovered you and your blog! I’m representing a new luxury perfume (Primal Mist), and am making acquaintance with lovers of fragrance to spread the word via social media. I’ll spread the word about your blog while I’m at it!

I spent Saturday at an amusement park with 14 teenagers (and three adult helpers), and slept Sunday afternoon away, recovering. I was very thankful for the cooler temperatures this weekend, as you can imagine!
